It’s been a busy few weeks for me, it can be a bit overwhelming at times but really, it’s starting to feel more like a motivating push rather than anything else. I’m past the point of having doubts about my work and what I do. I am my own critiquer, my own analyser, and I’m the harshest of them all.
But when you work with couples like Gavin and Florence, it all seems to fly out the window. They appreciate and love photography as much as I do, and Gavin is a hobbyist photographer himself. They spent a lot of time looking for their photographer; one who understands and shares what’s important and interesting to them.
I thought I would sweat it out, worrying about my photos and what I do because another photographer, Gavin, was watching me. But this wasn’t the case. I was free, to create the images I saw and capture what I felt was right. It was awesome taking photos for a couple who appreciate photography and are on their own creative journey. They understood me while I was holding the camera, as well as when I put it down.
There is a place near Unumgar in NSW, called the Organic Farm Share, that Gavin and Flo participate in. They spend their time helping others, weeding and collecting fruit and vegetables. They want to help in the security of food in the community and the regeneration of our lands.
During their session, it was important to us both that we got to spend time in the rural areas, as well as Cabarita Beach, where they spend lots of their down time.
