The best year of my life is coming to a close.
The year my first child, a little girl, was born. An experience that can never be retold well enough. An experience we are hoping to relive in the coming years.
This same year, 2012, I also found my new love for recording one of the biggest days in a couple’s life. The day they promise each other, to each other, forever.
I love to photograph weddings. They are emotional, fast paced and real. The moments will never happen again and I am there to capture and store these events and emotions for my clients.
I began the year taking photos for couples, most of them friends. Nothing serious, nothing too special. I was taking photos of couples in love. I was enjoying this, but there was something missing.
Something important.
It was the moments, before and after the photos. The love, the laughs and the tears. I needed to capture this. I needed to record it all.
I needed to photograph weddings.
I was stoked – I had 5 weddings booked, even before I photographed my first, which was Jason and Tara’s on the 1st of September. A day I won’t forget, a day I was lucky enough to share.
It seemed that people were starting to like my way of telling the stories of the weddings I had attended. By my 3rd wedding, I had been published by The Knot and Style Me Pretty and also received an acceptance from Polka Dot Bride. Then, to top it all off, I received an email from SIGMA Australia early one morning. Now, I’m part of the SIGMA Ambassador program as a “SIGMA Pro Photographer”.
2012 is a year that will be close to my heart. It’s a year that changed my way of life. It’s a year that changed the way I look at the world, and at others. It’s a year which brought out the best in me.
Thank you to everyone who I have met and spoken to. You have all helped me in ways I can’t describe.
When I look back, I can’t believe it. I shared these moments. I captured the stories. I was there…
I still can’t believe it.
The best year of my life is coming to a close.
